Friends of the Pugwash Estuary Canada’s 150th Anniversary

The public is invited, rain or shine, to a celebration at Estuary House on Sept. 23, 2017 to mark the opening of the Pugwash Peace Trail by the Friends of the Pugwash Estuary (FOPE). Please assemble at Estuary House, 2169 Crowley Road after 12:30. The Celebration will begin at 1 pm. This has been made possible with the support of a Canada 150 grant. The ceremony will include brief presentations by the indigenous community, government and local leaders, followed by the unveiling of the trail information sign and a cake cutting. You are welcome to participate in a hike of the Peace Trail or a paddle alongside it. A barbeque will follow.

On September 23, 2017, FOPE is formally celebrating an additional asset to mark Canada’s 150th celebration year. Our new Pugwash Estuary Peace Trail consists of a growing number of separate parts which can be hiked individually or as a connected whole. In total the trail covers over 10 kilometers. Thanks go to the Nova Scotia Community Foundation for making possible the very generous grant that has enabled the opening of the Pugwash Estuary Peace Trail, an essential part of our infrastructure.

DIRECTIONS: Turn right at the Sunset Industries building towards the Windsor Salt Mine, and then turn left onto Crowley Road.

Fall Flotilla 2017

This Fall Flotilla will be a bit special.  On September 23rd, FOPE will host the opening of the Peace Trail.  A First Nation's elder will conduct an appropriate ceremony and there will be an official ribbon cutting.  Some will hike; others will paddle.  There will be bird watching and floral identification.   Join us for our CANADA 150 celebration.  More information about this big celebration to follow.
